2 Months Old

Float North is 2 months old!

It’s neat to look back on older posts and see the progress I’ve made since starting construction in February 2018, not to mention the years of work and research that went into learning about the float industry, finding a location, funding, and actually opening. I’ve been watching friends who have babies posting photos as their first 12 months roll by. It’s been an apt analogy for me that opening Float North is kind of like having a baby. I planned and figured and worked really hard to create a place for Float North in the world and now it’s here.  I’m proud of what I’ve created and it’s a HUGE endeavor that is much bigger than I.

I would love to be able to hire staff to help me as Float North grows, but I’m not there yet. As any new parent, I need help from the community.

Some of the areas I need help in are:

  • Maintenance (touch up paint, small repairs as needed, hanging hooks/art/small fixtures)
  • Cleaning, tons of cleaning (sweep, mop, wash windows, dust, clean toilets/sinks/surfaces)
  • Laundry, on-site (wash, fold, put away)
  • Front desk (answer phones, schedule appointments, answer questions, be kind to people, take payment)

If you are able to help in one or a few of these areas please reach out to me via email (floatnorthpdx@gmail.com) and let me know what you’re interested in. There’s something in it for you too! Reach out for more details.

The creation and opening of Float North has been one of, if not the, hardest thing I’ve ever done, and it’s only getting started.

Float North has needs of its own. It has a rhythm of its own. It’s up to me to listen to that and help it shine.

I have many irons in the fire and have had to ask for help from my wife, Kat, friends, clients, and other float centers as I’ve learned the ropes and made mistakes. I have much more to learn and am glad to have a solid community behind me. I hope to give as much or more than I receive.

I’m incredibly proud of the place I’ve built. To me, it’s a sanctuary. A place to heal and a place to grow. If you’re overwhelmed, stressed out, having a hard time sleeping, or simply want to feel better in your mind and body, this is the place to do that.

Float, Massage, Somawave therapy, meditation classes are all great additions to your routine. Come by for a tour if you haven’t been in yet.
Thank you!
