A little about the owner:
My name is Dana Highfill. I’m the owner and primary operator of Float North. I have spent much of my life recovering and healing from the stresses and traumas of our modern world and have created a sanctuary for others to do the same. When we fill our own cup we can be there for others. As the saying goes, you can’t pour from an empty cup.
How did I get started?
I’ve been a massage therapist for the past 10 years. In 2006 I started a qigong and meditation practice and in 2011 I floated for the first time. That first float took me deeper than any meditation practice ever had, plus I felt physically amazing afterward. I knew that I wanted to open a float and massage therapy center after that very first float. It took years of research, finding a location, getting funding, and 7 months of buildout to be where we are now. I’ve built one of the most beautiful float centers in Portland. We pride ourselves on educating people on the benefits of float therapy and massage therapy and working individually one-on-one to help you get the most out of your sessions.
What do we offer?
Float North staff are here to help you find what modalities work best for you and how often you should be including them in your routine for your personal goals. We can adjust almost any part of a massage or float session to tailor it to your needs.
- Integrative Massage Therapy that focuses on recovery, injury prevention, and reducing stress.
- Float Therapy occurs in a pool of liquid magnesium, there are 1,000 lbs of Epsom Salt in each pool that is heated to your body temperature. The solution is so dense that your body is held weightless, supported, and relaxed. You have your own private suite complete with shower, float pool or cabin, and all the necessary amenities. A few of the benefits of float therapy include reduced pain, reduced anxiety/depression, improved sleep quality, and improved recovery time.
- SomaWave Therapy utilizes a special massage table created to transmit sound waves throughout your body. Different frequencies relax or energize the body and mind.
For those of us who are physically, mentally, and/or emotionally overloaded we are here for you to discuss the best combination of modalities to help you recover and thrive.
We take health insurance and personal injury claims (car accidents/workers comp) for massage therapy. We give back to the community by participating in programs that offer free floats for those in need.
What makes us different?
Float North is a community of people that are focused on helping you feel and be your best. We are like a family that will not judge you. We listen and help you tailor our services to meet your needs. We care and it shows.
